Desk Tank

Your doodles

Last updated October 27, 2026. These are part of the Desk Tank terms of use.

These terms describe what happens when you save a doodle, post it to /doodles or share its link: what stays yours, what you let Desk Tank do with it, and what other players can do with the copies they keep.

Why these terms

We want to feature and share as many people's doodles as we can: on /doodles, in other players' tanks, and when we show Desk Tank to the world. To do that properly we have to go by the book. These terms make sure that every doodle made here and shared with us is shared in good faith, and that we have your permission to show it. They also mean that once you share a doodle, players who already have a copy of it keep their copy, so their tanks keep working.

What these cover

Anything you make on the doodle board, drawn by hand or from a photo you import, once you save it, post it to /doodles or share its link.

It stays yours

You keep the copyright in your doodle, and you can use it anywhere else you like.

The licence you give us

When you save a doodle, you give Desk Tank a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and sublicensable licence to use, store, copy, resize, convert, adapt, make derivative works of, show, perform and share it, in connection with Desk Tank and its business — including letting other players keep and plant copies of it (on /doodles, from a link you shared, and in pictures and clips of tanks) and promoting Desk Tank in any media. It does not end if you delete the doodle or stop playing.

Other players

You also give every other Desk Tank player a licence to keep, plant and show copies of any doodle you have published or publish, inside Desk Tank, and in pictures, clips and videos of their tank, on the web or on their desktop, that they share in connection with Desk Tank — for example on social media, YouTube or a stream, including videos that earn money. We ask players to credit the artist where they can.

Featuring your doodle

You also agree that Desk Tank may feature your doodle, and the name you are credited by, in showing people Desk Tank — on our site, in posts, the devlog, store pages and ads. You won't be paid for this, and we'll credit you where we can. If you'd rather a doodle not be featured, write to us.

Moral rights

To the fullest extent the law allows, you waive, and agree not to assert, any moral rights in your doodle — such as the right to be named as its author or to object to it being changed — against Desk Tank and anyone we license it to. We'll still credit you where we can.

Your photo stays on your device

When you import a photo, it is turned into pixels in your browser. Only the finished doodle is sent to us; the photo never is.

What you promise

  • that you made the doodle, or have the right to use everything in it;
  • that a photo you import is one you took or are allowed to use;
  • that it doesn't copy someone else's art, characters, logos or brands;
  • that anyone recognisable in it has said it's OK;
  • that it isn't hateful, sexual, violent, cruel, or someone's private information; and
  • that if you are under 18, a parent or guardian has read these terms and agreed to them with you.

What we can do

We can refuse, hide or remove any doodle, at any time, and we don't have to keep any doodle. Anyone can report a doodle from its page.

Copyright complaints

If you think a doodle copies your work, write to hello@desktank.app with: the work you own, where the doodle is on Desk Tank, how to reach you, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed, a statement that your notice is accurate and that you own the work or act for its owner, and your name as a signature. We'll take it down, and we stop accounts that do this again from publishing.

You're responsible for what you publish

If someone makes a claim against Desk Tank because a doodle you made broke these terms, you agree to cover the cost of it.

Agreeing

The first time you save, post or share a doodle, you agree to this section; the doodle board says so under its save. We keep the date, which version you agreed to and a scrambled form of your internet address. If we change this section, the notice shows again, and your next save, post or share agrees to the new version.

Everything else

The rest of the terms of use and the privacy page still apply.
